Welcome to Green Lighthouse

Public authorities, the private business community and concerned citizens are all trying to do the math and decide how to contribute to reductions in CO2 emissions and thereby how to face the climate challenge.

The building industry is one of the most energy consuming industries. This is why the University of Copenhagen now collaborates with VELUX, VELFAC, the Danish University and Property Agency (UBST) and the City of Copenhagen on building this climate-friendly house of the future.

The house has been finished within less than a year and before the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen starts in December. Green Lighthouse is placed at the Faculty of Science and  will contain service functions for students, meeting facilities and a faculty club for researchers.

Green Lighthouse is built by a consortium consisting of Hellerup Byg, Christensen & Co. Arkitekter and COWI, which has developed the architecture and energy concept and has constructed this new climate landmark.

Green Ligthhouse was officially inaugurated on 20 October 2009.
